May’s cards invite us to let go.

Let go of rigidity to nurture creative flow.

Let go of fear to expand your perspective.

Let go of preconceived notions to embrace spontaneity.

We’ve been living in a stressful, divided time. Many of us are holding onto tension and fear, and it’s exhausting.

But within this month’s cards, there’s levity. All they ask is that you stay curious and open, just enough to experience something different. Let’s explore.

Here’s how the three-card pull works:

  • First Card: Reflects on lessons from the past and what you’re taking stock in.

  • Second Card: Focuses on what you’re cultivating in the present.

  • Third Card: Represents the outcome of aligning past and present energies. Past + present = the outcome.

May 2026 Cards

  1. CreativityI feel the flow of life; I feel my life force.

  2. ExpansivenessEach day, I expand the person I’m becoming.

  3. SpontaneityI am open to new experiences.

About the Cards

Creativity
Read more about creatvity in February 2025’s angel card practice.

NASA tells us that “stars generate the chemical elements needed to make everything in our universe.” We’re all made of starstuff.

Before we ever arrive Earthside, we’re created. I think of conception like a supernova, a burst of creative energy that forms the essence of who we are. Everything in our lives is born from that moment. Creativity is literally how you came into this body.

That’s why I’ve always said that everyone is creative. It’s not limited to artists; it’s the energy of the second chakra. We all carry an inherent drive to create, rooted in our gut intelligence.

Your creativity is what motivates you. It helps you find your place in the world and understand why you’re here. It’s also how you express yourself and find flow, whether through numbers, painting, movement, or anything in between.

Many people think they’re not creative, when in reality they’re pushing back against the feminine energy that’s in all of us, regardless of gender. The feminine is a powerful force of nature, and understanding it within yourself is part of the creative process.

Practice: Devote an hour each week to something you genuinely enjoy: the kind of activity that makes you lose track of time. That’s where your creativity lives. Sit quietly with your breath until you feel the movement of your creative energy. Follow your senses, and let everything else in your life align with that flow.

Affirmation: I feel the flow of life; I feel my life force.

Breathe in: I breathe into my creative flow.

Breathe out: I breathe out the expansion of my creative flow.

Expansiveness

Expansiveness begins with the awareness we explored with creative flow. When we pause to become present, we start to understand who we are and what drives us. From there, we can grow beyond it.

The universe itself began with a rapid expansion called the Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago. While gravity slowed expansion following this incredible event, we’ve since discovered it’s accelerating again.

For humans, expansion starts small. As we build our awareness and gather new experiences, we grow our comfort zone.

When we avoid expansion, we stay confined to a narrow perspective. Limited experiences can make us fearful of difference. But when we open ourselves to something new, we create new neural connections, possibilities, and even release dopamine, the brain’s feel-good chemical. (Read more about openness in April 2026’s angel card practice.)

Practice: Start with curiosity. Pause and notice what you can hear, see, taste, feel, and smell. As your mind quiets, ask yourself what might be standing in the way of new experiences. What would be possible if you stretched your comfort zone just a little? Where can you be more open to different beliefs, people, places, or ideas? Choose one area to explore this month and practice moving gently past your comfort zone.

Affirmation: Each day, I expand the person I’m becoming.

Breathe in: I breathe in curiosity.

Breathe out: I expand my awareness in all directions.

Spontaneity

Spontaneity requires presence (supported by creative flow) and releasing expectations (supported by expansiveness). In other words, you can’t be spontaneous when you’re stuck in your judging mind.

But embracing spontaneity is harder than ever. Technology enables us to plan and fill nearly every moment of our lives. It’s taken away our tolerance for boredom and not knowing.

I recently read a story about a couple who traveled to a hospital out of state for a family emergency. One night, they took a break from the hospital to get a drink.

They started down the review rabbit hole, but spontaneously chose a nearby dive instead without reading the reviews. The drinks and atmosphere weren’t remarkable, but they had a great time due to the novelty of their experience that made them more open to connection.

That’s the gift of spontaneity. There’s something exhilarating about following a path without knowing where it’ll lead.

Practice: Follow your instincts and seek new experiences for the sake of them. Start small by trying a restaurant without checking reviews, striking up a conversation with someone new, or exploring a place without a plan. This is about letting go of the outcome, developing tolerance for imperfection, and gaining a fresh perspective on life.

Affirmation: I am open to new experiences.

Breathe in: I am letting go.

Breathe out: I am curious about the world.

What’s taught me the most about spontaneity? Love. I’m a big fan of Love on the Spectrum because of the genuine, spontaneous expressions of love it captures. It reflects some of the most beautiful parts of being human.

Some of my closest friends have also encouraged me to be more spontaneous over the years. I’ve always been grateful when I followed them (or just myself) into the unknown. It’s made me who I am today.

We could all use more novelty in our lives. And in the process, we can begin to shift our perspective—not focusing so much on what’s hard, but on what truly lights us up.
