Here’s how the three-card pull works:

• First Card: Reflects on lessons from the past and what you’re taking stock in.

• Second Card: Focuses on what you’re cultivating in the present.

• Third Card: Represents the outcome of aligning past and present energies. Past + present = the outcome.

About the Cards

Sisterhood & Brotherhood

The Sisterhood & Brotherhood card is about seeing ourselves in others. It teaches us that we’re all connected, even when forces try to pull us apart. As a society, we’ve lost our way to messages of fear and distrust. Still, science shows us that when we see others struggle, it lights up neural networks in our brains as if we were struggling ourselves. We’re literally wired for connection. But in 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General declared that we were in an epidemic of loneliness and isolation. That loneliness reshapes our brains and influences our ability to empathize—while strong relationships improve our survival.

Practice: Meet others with curiosity and an open heart. Studies show that we’re happier when we have what’s called relational diversity—meaning we regularly interact with a variety of people, from family, friends, partners, neighbors, and strangers. Next time you’re running errands, make it a point to greet a stranger, express gratitude, and spread generosity. Be kind for the sake of being kind, and notice how it impacts your mood.

Affirmation: I am connected to all beings.

Breathe in: I am you.

Breathe out: You are me.

Obedience

Most people see obedience as compliance with an authority outside of themselves. But my interpretation of the Obedience card is about following our inner guidance system. In this era of information overload, we’ve forgotten how to trust our internal signals. This has been true for a very long time, but we’re now more distracted than ever. Furthermore, tools like AI have taken away our need for self-reliance. The more dependent we become on external feedback, the less confidence we have in ourselves. We rely on outside forces to give us the answers, even when they’re already available within us.

Practice: Pay attention to the red and green lights on your life path. The more you pause to observe, the more you’ll get clarity in return. Mindfulness and meditation are more powerful tools than ever in this time of endless distraction. A regular practice can increase gray matter density in our brains and improve memory, emotional regulation, and creative thinking. You already have what you need within you. Your task is to pay attention and trust.

Breathe in: I am listening.

Breathe out: I receive the message.

Synthesis

As you connect more deeply with yourself and others, the Synthesis card represents the integration of your experiences into a cohesive whole. This is how you build wisdom. When you view strangers as part of your sister or brotherhood, you foster the wisdom of empathy. As you learn to hear your inner guidance, you facilitate the wisdom of discernment. When you combine them, you access the wisdom of love.

Practice: In recent years, we’ve been taught to fear each other. When you notice yourself becoming activated, pause to focus on your breath. Ground yourself in the present by identifying something you can see, hear, feel, taste, and smell. Allow yourself to relax and release the fear. Envision gold light emanating from your heart center and expanding in all directions.

Affirmation: I expand the wisdom of love.

Breathe in: I honor these lessons.

Breathe out: I expand love.

It’s easy to judge others from afar, but up close, it’s so much easier to love. Be open to new people. Listen to your loving heart. Act in accordance with your values. And by doing so, grow the wisdom of love.
